And the seasons change

Just dropping in to say hello. My have the seasons changed here in Fairbanks Alaska. The snow is melted finally which did result in some flooding at the Chena River, but also some sunshine which has put the buds on the trees!

It seemed like an endless winter, so cold and so extended by COVID-19. But here we are.

So- what’s new? Well I have started to sit outside with the dogs and enjoy the neighborhood. Meeting new neighbors and friends now that it’s warm enough to let children outside to play.

If you promise to overlook my absolutely terrible hair, lack of makeup and raggedy clothing, I will share this video of the Alaskan nighttime (or lack of it).

We also have a friendly neighborhood fox who comes everyday to sit across from my house and stare at us.

And in other significant news we took up hiking. Our first expedition was to the fabulous Angel Rock trail just outside of Fairbanks.

If you are in the area this is a must do for your hiking expeditions and is relatively family friendly. It is a beautiful place well worth your time.

There’s nothing like sunshine and nature to have us resetting and gaining perspective. It seems that social distancing regulations are slowly lifting, but you’ll have to excuse me if I continue to enjoy the great outdoors and the pristine and uncrowded nature around me. Just for a little longer.

Stay tuned for our wildlife sighting excursion to Denali. I’ll post about it soon.

In the meantime, I hope that you are safe and happy wherever you are. And if you are a little worried and stressed, take a leaf out of our friendly neighborhood fox’s book. He seems wholly unconcerned with anything at all.

Stay safe.
